I have a five year old that loves reptiles, I want to take her to the show in hamburg this weekend, but I have been told that they are really crowded, and not a good place for young kids. Any opinions please.

My kids love the shows!!! If you take kids make sure you bring a babysitter as they will not likely want to be stuck to your side while you're talking snakes for hours on end. They also tend to see the whole show in about half the time it takes you - then get bored. Usually I'll walk through the show with them - when they've seen everything that interests them - I ship them off with their father so I can go back and take care of business.

Also make sure they are supervised and are respectful of vendors, displays and other peoples animals.

The show does get very crowded, so make sure your there kind of early, or you'll be fighting crowds to get up and down each aisle. Your kids will have fun though, there is so much to see, it will be like a kid in a candy store!! You may want to get their early as well, because a big line starts forming approxiametly 1/2 hour prior the show starting, and trust me, you don't want to be waiting hours in line, seriously!! I've seen the line atart to form at 7:30 am and earlier and was out to the fences end till well after 12:30.......

I was leaving and the line still was to the end of the fence.....

........rain and all......cold........heat

cold..........I really get sick of seeing all the iguanas and chameleons in 20 degree weather........boas and pythons love it too......rubbermaid boxes with holes in them is a real defense against the chill.....yea......LOL

and heat..........people fry all kinds of stuff in cars.....

....TAKE COOLERS AND FROZEN WATER BOTTLES OR ICE PAKS.......STYROFOAM BOXES OR COOLERS AND AN ICE PAK CAN SAVE ALOT OF ANIMALS.......AND KEEPS FROZEN RODENTS FROM THAWING TOO MUCH AT ALL ON THE DRIVE HOME........

.......even if I am getting just one snake and leaving right away I take a small cooler........even if I am getting nothing.........you'd be surprised how many people have taken my cooler home with rats frozen or live snakes in it.....

........be prepared.........!!!

.......eat after show and bring water along for the ride......

hell...sometimes it would pay to bring your own TP to the shows.......

It's a good show,but crowded and hot.I'll be there late A.M.
5 years old aint bad,I just hate getting stuck behind strollers.

At least it is not supposed to be as hot as today.. If you see a cute 5 year old with dirty blond hair and pink tips on the bottom say hello.. Yes she has about two inches of pink hair..

pink,blue,orange,purple.......there are all kinds of people at Hamburg..........you wouldn't believe the freaks that crawl out of the termite mounds to go there.........LOL........

what?.......aaaw.........come on.......we love you all......

June Hamburg can be hot and crowded........but not like August..........

IF the kid is well behaved and doesn't get bored in 10 minutes (like I do).........?what was I saying?...oh yea........they have to deal with the line at door and people pushing around like animals at times.......not all rows are crowded......near the hots is worst at times.......

KEEP THEIR HANDS OFF THE HOT TABLES.......RATTLERS CAN, AND WILL STICK A FANG OUT OF THE HOLES IN A DELI-CUP OR OUT THE TOP OF A SCREEN TOP......I HAVE SEEN RATTLERS STUCK ON A CAGE LID WITH THE FANGS HANGING THROUGH THE TOP AND VENOM DRIPPING OUT OF THEM AS THEY PUMPED TO GET FREE......!..THIS IS FOR ALL AGES

........as long as YOU can handle the kid...........you will be ok.........

talk to them and don't just ignore them like some people do.......*(some people have 3 and 4 kids there).....

strollers suck bigtime for everyone.....

.........have fun......be early.....it gets hotter and more animals crowd the cage....I mean room........

Take as many as humanly possible. Take your kids....take your nieces and nephews......take the neighbor kids......pick up some homeless kids on the way.........what I'm getting at is the more the merrier. Get them hooked young.......please. Moms are the best. Moms should be in charge of everything. Andrew
