Hey everyone, just wondering but what does everyone feed their tortoises? I have a Desert Tortoise and feed him the following.

-Endive
-Escarole
-Collard Greens
-Mustard Greens

And every week I alternate with this stuff.

-Dandelion Greens
-Kale
-Beet Greens
-Turnip Greens
-Swiss Chard
-Red Leaf Lettuce
-Green Leaf Lettuse
-Romaine Lettuce

Is this healthy?

Sounds good, you could also try adding more weeds and grasses to the diet when possible. Hays too if he will eat them.

Add cactus pads - it's part of their diet in the wild.

Any Hispanic market will have them, usually chopped to the size of string beans or without the spines.

Ask for nopales and they'll know exactly what you want.

Good luck.

From what I have read in research for my own desert tort you should cut out the lettuce it has little nutritional value.
