How many Dubia in a 10gal?

eminart Jun 08, 2007 04:49 PM

I got my dubia in the mail today. I ordered 100, but I probably got closer to 200. I'm quite pleased because a LOT of them are adults and I don't plan on feeding them off until I can get a breeding colony established. Anyway, my question is this: How large of a colony will I be able to sustain in the 10gal tank I currently have them in? 500? 1000? 2000? I have no idea. I'm guessing I have 200 now and there's plenty of room, but I don't know how crowded it can be and still be healthy.

Thanks for any info.

Yeah, I usually don't get answers here regarding roaches. The roach people seem to have run off from the forum.

About the 10gal, It would depend how much egg carton you have in there but I would say definitely less than 1000.

I use a 25 gal rubbermaid tub for my blaberus craniifer/fusca hybrids (~3') and a 15 gal rubbermaid for my blatta lateralis (~1') and I can fit a lot.

So, for dubia I would use something in between like 20 gal.
