Anyone have any experience making a home made tank. I'd like to make a 100 gal. Is it cheaper than buying one. What do you use for the frame and what thickness glass.
Thanks
Kevin

I built a 5' by 3' by 18" tank for ~$125. I used 1/4" tempered glass. Many times they will have leftover pieces of glass from other projects you can get discounts on. I used silicon adhesive to put the sides together and an L shaped fake wood piece for the base.

instead of making one check out a thrift store or garage sales. if you are using it for a reptile it doesnt need to be water proof and to most people tanks that arent water proof arent of use. my friends ball pythons are in a 150 gallon that she got at a thrift store for $5 and last week I got 2 55 gallons at a garage sale. look around and you can save a ton of money that way!
