Water bowls

EricBodrero Jun 08, 2007 06:53 PM

I'd like to try something more efficient with my water bowls now that I have more than a few snakes. I'd like to hear others ideas on what you do for water bowls. I was thinking about the deli cup in the PVC thing. Ideas?

I use various size cat & dog bowls for all of my snakes. I use ones that are hollow inside so that they can act as both a water source and hide at the same time.

My wife likes those candle jar things and the lids are great for water bowls as the round bottom keeps them from tipping
I also use glass jars filled with small river stones to make them bottom heavy. I suppose coolwhip containers work but I think they are ugly.

That snake is an 06 female Emoryi Ratsnake. She's 100 percent het albino. I also have a male albino emoryi rat that I will be pairing her up with in the not so distant future.

I like heavy water bowls so they don't spill them as easily.
Currently they have some nice sized ceramic ones at the dollar store for - you guessed it - $1.00.

I do like the water bowls to big enough for the snake to completely soak if the snake chooses to do so. The dollar store bowls are not big enough for a full grown cal king to completely soak, I buy more expensive water bowls for the big ones.

If you put the cost of a water bowl over 24 months - even the expensive ones are cheap. But the expensive nice ones are even cheaper at shows.

I love these ziplock food containers. Just cut a hole in the middle of the top. This keeps water from sloshing out when you pull the bins out and bush them back in. As you can see, I like using boxes. The box on the left is full of aspen. That way the snake can still burrow if it wants to.

now thats a clever ideal with the lid. I am going to have to steal that ideal! Also like the ideal with the box of aspen! might steal that just as well! Thanks
