Moving day

Anyone have any advice on how to move 2 dozen snakes from Vermont to Colorado?

Along similar lines, does anyone know if I will have problems with bringing my Cal kings to CO? I know they are a technically a native species and I was wondering if there were any technicalities.

They should be able to make the trk with you, huh?
I know a guy who actually shipped his "to himself" and picked them up at his new workplace...
Good luck.

If you're driving, I would put them all in snake bags or pillow cases, and put them in styrofoam coolers. Good luck! Derek

Yes perforated styrofoam coolers. Also when going to get out, do not park the car in the sun , look for a shaded spot and keep the windows open a inch or so.If it is very hot you can keep a few ice cubes in the cooler but seperate them from the snakes
and not feed the snakes that week

Contact Colorado fish & game.
There may be an import application you have to comply with (NM apparently has one, for example)

Anyway - they will know the details.

Cal Kings I think barely touch Colorado. Splendida I think might too. Are there actual specimen vouchers, or just some sight recordings? CO may not consider them native if there are only sight recordings, but their F&G will know.

wildlife.state.co.us/WildlifeSpecies/SpeciesOfConcern/Reptiles/

lists "Common Kingsnake" as Species of Special Concern. So you probably want to call them, lest you get an over zealous officer seizing your snakes in attempt to get the good employee of the month parking spot for busting the evil pot smoking baby eating counter culture snake keeper.
