Finch food?

Hi, I have read in several places to feed "finch pellets/finch food" periodically. For the last couple of years I have left a dish of lentils and Zupreem fruit blend finch food (pellets) in with my benti. The bag finally ran out and I was at petsmart today and bought several different kinds to replace it for both the benti and my juvie ornate.

1) Is this a wise thing to be feeding (available to them all the time in addition to their daily salads)

2) if so, which brands/types are recommended?

I would only give it as a supplement. Like 2 times a week. Sometimes these foods can be fatty and have filler in it. A good brand would be a food by Kaytee. Take care.
