this is how my temp sensor sits on the basking spot...

keith_ecko Aug 16, 2003 07:28 PM

I get a 102 temp reading with the sensor sitting ontop the rocks.....is this right? Should I put it about 1/2" above the rock or what? I know there was a previous post about this a few days ago but I was confused with all the replies going back and forth...well let me know...thanks

that looks good to me. i have come to conclusion after watching my dragons gap for extended periods of time that about 102-105 with the probe right on the rock seems to be the best in my set ups. they spend more time on the basking area in sted of just near it and don't gap so much

you should raise it from the rock. The rocks wamr up a lot more then the temperature so it will read the temp as being higher then it is.

i can guarentee you if you hang that probe a few inches above that rock to get 110 degree that surafce ofthe rock will be upwards of 140° we have just went though all this in a post a few days ago. i sugest going and reading the reply posted by grim dog on the subject.

while it may be only 100 6 inches off Ga. asphault in the summer i promise you you don't wanna get undressed and lay on it for a few hours.
