Ghost vs. Phantom

Venom_Within Jun 09, 2007 07:15 PM

accidentally posted this in genetics/morphs section, but no one ever goes there...

Any ideas as to why Snow and Ghost became so popular, while Blizzard and Phantom remain somewhat hidden away? I for one would like to see more Phantoms out there. Their look beats a ghost hands down IMHO.

Also, are there any other charcoal crosses available besides Blizzard and Phantom? Such as a Charcoal Lavender, Charcoal Caramel or Striped Phantom?

I am STRONGLY considering selling my two Honduran milks and getting into corns. Which would be easier to find in your opinions:

a Phantom X double het Phantom pair or
a Hypo het Charcoal X Charcoal het Hypo pair?

They'd each give the same 1:1:1:1 ratio of known genotypes and phenotypes when crossed.

Last thing: would a homozygous Anery A and Charcoal be indistinguishable from a Charcoal? Or would there be subtle differences like that of the Hybino?

I'm not sure you can have homo for both Anery and charcoal since they are incompatible. I do have a pair of phantoms that are awesome looking!! I will pair the male with my hypo stripe female next year so I'll have hypos het stripe het charcoal. Hoping to be able to produce my own striped phantoms in a few years!!

female phantom, slow grower, another year for her

male phantom - pushing 31 inches now so he'll be ready to go next breeding season

You can have both traits in a homozygous state,it's not really that they are incompatible, It's just that Charcoal masks Anery A

thats interesting. Is their any way to tell if a snake is homogenous for both with out breeding?

No, not without breeding trials
