Another suggestion for the fight

I think a more effective campaign would be to notify the businesses of what they will be losing starting next year. The only way to affect anything nowadays is to show a financial hit. That type of campaign (showing how much herp money is spent) would be easier to distribute. Simply have everyone post a dollar amount (rough estimate, but legitimate) they spend each year and with whom. I think people would post that, don't you? And then send that link to as many people (including the businesses AND call them, we could post the business numbers to call as well) as possible. When the businesses hear that, if it is significant, they would raise hell. THEN the billboard campaign to back it up. Show the total tourism dollar lost thanks to their representative.

(this suggestion was provided by Scott at fieldherpforum.com and I think he is right on the money...so to speak)

Would you belive it, but my wife and i spent arround $12,000 on herping, and herping related costs (tires, oil changes, food fuel, hotels, rentals, ect.) last year? we went many places yes, and did the tourist thing while there, but we would NOT have gone to many of those places had there not been herps we where looking for. IF the herping is shut down, i am still going to herp, i just wont be as brazen about it or spend nearly as much, i will have to do some herping on the Kingsnake classifieds!
