Why don;t they just move ?!?!?

i have had several dragons in the past and one now that would rather just sit under his basking spot and over heat than move to a color area of the tank. they sit under the baskin light for hours gaping thier mouths open for long periods at a time the books say this is normal as long as they have a place to cool off. i think its weird anyone else ever experiance this ?

just really lazy

gaping is a normal behaviour and helps them regulate their body temps, so long as you have the proper temps in your enclosure (ambient temp cool side 80-85 basking 105-115 etc) i dont think you have to worry, if they get too hot, they will move.
