Friday night

hunted 163 mostly walked the S-curves, burned some north of bakers. It was hot and humid and still until 130 when it cleared out and a breeze come in from the SW. Saw one DOR 24" bull about 300 yards before the light in Comstock, nothing else all night. It started raining after the turn towards del rio at 330.

Went to the show in SA, (nothing much to mention there, one guy had some generic alterna phase neonates, one looked like it was on deaths door and a girl bought it anyway, I gave her a card so she can call me when it dies.)

hunted down hwy 16 and fm 624 on the way back to Kingsville:
2 dor checkered garter
1 aor checkered garter
1 aor atrox
1 aor emoryi
1 dor emoryi
20-30 male texas browns
2 female texas browns

TMTC valiceps, speciosus and couchii
Did find one dor valiceps that was red in color, very interesting, ill post some pics of it later.

The BP in comstock asked alot of questions, many more than normal, when I told them I was looking for snakes. The first thing they asked is if I sold them, I told them I collect very few and dont sell them. I think they are screening collectors for other LE.

I don't think they are screening, some just have been told (by other herpers) and really believe there is money to be made. They seem to be more curious what snakes they should pick up and sell for $300.

I have been asked before about selling and colleting, and the tone just seemed different this time. Before they have seemed inquisative, this time it really seemed like I was being questioned. You can tell by inflection and tone of voice, ect if they are trully interested or not, It just felt different, know what I mean?

They have been asking the same questions for the last 20 years that I know of. They could care less about collecting. Technically they are not law enforcement.
