Black vs Northern Pines vs Bullsnakes

snaker Aug 16, 2003 08:15 PM

I have a couple ?s regarding the differences between Black and
Northern Pines. Is there much difference in size and temperment
between the two and also is there much difference in adult size
and temperment between pines and Bullsnakes. Of all the Pits,
which ssp acheives the greatest girth? The reason I ask about the
pines is I had an awesome pair several years ago but my wife HATED
them and thought they were evil and always plotting to get out
and eat her cocketiel. She has a thing against black snakes in
general, kings, indigos all of them. I love pits so I am wondering
if Northerns or Bulls may be the ticket. I would love to hear
what differences and similarities you have noticed between the
different ssp's. Thank you.

Hi.......I am planning on breeding the Pits for size and understand that the Bullsnakes,Northern Pines, and Pacific Gopher canget pretty large. The Northerns tend to get long but not as heavy as the others. CherryFarms has a pretty good description of these snakes. Check out. I have a Hypo Bull that is growing faster than any snake I have ever had. This is by far my favorite snake and I plan on getting more.

The most obvious similarity is that they will all plot to escape and eat the cockateil.
