Hamburg, new addition Blairs

Guttersnacks Jun 11, 2007 06:53 AM

I picked this little guy up at the Hamburg show. Now, I wasn't QUITE as concerned about locale as I know it's gonna get bred to a non-locale when it's mature enough. I'm betting it's just a plain mix of "whatevers" but hopefully still all pure alterna. I was looking for a nice orange saddled one and there seemed to be only one guy who had any at this show.
I was TOLD the babies had eaten pinkies, and were from Mark Bell. I dont know anything about Mark Bell other than that the name sounded familiar. Also, I do have some doubt that they had eaten. They looked to be fresh out of the egg really as all 4 snakes in the deli cup had shed within the same 12 hour period.
I'm curious to get some feedback on it....I wish I paid attention to who I got it from. For anyone that was at the show, it was the table sitting perpendicular from the Animal Rescue table and I know the guy came from New York, as I saw his license plates on his car as he was unpacking for the show...
I can try to get better closeups if anybody would be interested for better verification.
Regardless of the feedback I get, I still really like the way the snake looks and intend to keep it. The feedback will just allow me to understand what I'm doing when I breed him in a few years.

I assume you bought it recently, which means it isn't a neonate. It is way too early in the year for hatchlings. Also figuring the wate bowl to be at least 3" diameter the snake appears too large for a neonate. More likely it is a '06 that was brumated. It may have fed prior to brumation, may not. Many don't feed until they have been cooled and darkened for a couple months.

Not a bad looking animal.

I'm just sooo excited about this little guy. He's the epitome of what I've always wanted. I just hope he keeps the orange color through adulthood.

If you are into Alterna in Germany then you get a HUGE THUMBS UP
from me. Congrats. It looks like a nice light phase.

Now... Once we get these regulations cleared up over here again you need to save up and make a trek to the Alterna Promise land and see how amazing the country is first hand...

Best Wishes,

I think he's talking about Hamburg Pa.. It's a pretty big show in the northeast.
