Let me know how you go about getting them to eat consistantly. I hatched out some spotteds on May 20th and only half of them have eaten yet...and only once. Small little buggers for sure! Good luck with them!

Generally they will take food on their own, but I generally have one or two that don't want to take a pink mouse. Then I wash them off with soap and water and pat them dry. I haven't had to force feed any yet. They just need small pinks to start off with. Good luck. I had about 70% feed on the first offering, so they are on the right track.

What I learned with my first clutch of Childrens some years ago was.....make sure the babies feel safe.
I had mine in shoeboxes on paper. I changed them to a inch plus of lightly packed Carefresh (the small animal bedding) It is lightweight, recycled paper shreds. They would burrow all through it and when I fed them I left a live pink in there with them. Once they started eating there was no holding them back. Now they come out of the box to get it.

Yep they definitely need to feel safe. We give ours tubes and water dishes that they can also use as hides on the cool end of their enclosures. Some of the more difficult ones will start with gutting or braining of pinkies. (Yummm...)
