SERRASOMETHING Jun 12, 2007 12:39 AM

Normaally keep these 2 snakes seperate for the last 2 years, I through the male in the the 55 gallon with the female and he bit her behind the neck, the did this about three times. Each time they were locking tails pretty good.

Can I keep them together for good now, any suggestions, I would apreciate ANY help, thanks much!, I can email pics to those that want them.

These snakes were found near a small park in the MIDDLE of chicago.

If lead paint is so deadly why do they make it so delicious?

Sucks I have to take the male out....They get along great. I work in an industrial park, the ladies were screaming "there is a snake in the garage", when I went out there. There were actually 2 snakes hiding behind a garbage can, from the women screeming, well I grabbed the thicker of the 2, then the male grabbed onto the thicker one and would not let go,,,,,

I would like to keep them together, but I guess its what ever is best for the snake!

nice to see some fox snake discussion in the forums. i found 2 hatchlings last fall- both female. they are doing great but i never had a bit of luck w/ wild caught adults; they j/ wouldn't eat.

Yes, the moment I grabbed the female, the male bit her, thats what they do, they bite the back of the neck to get a firm hold if they are even slightly smaller then the female. Yes, I believe the day they were found the male was chasing after her.
Rick
These are both doing fantastic!

I see a lot of wild life on my morning walks, but it's always a thrill to see herps. Fox Snakes are especially nice to see. I work afternoon shift, I wake up every morning and drink some coffee, then take my Husky out for a walk in the woods. I live about 30 miles south of downtown Chicago. I'm a stone's throw away from the woods. I have a number of favorite hiking areas around the Tinley Creek division and the entire Sag Valley area.

I haven't seen a Fox Snake yet this season, but I have seen some other stuff...

Its hard to believe you are 30 minutes from downtown,

Amazing is all I can say to describe!

Yep, I live in unincorperated Cook County. I work at 39th & Princeton, it's a 22 mile drive to work, so I figure my house to the Loop would be about 30 miles give or take.

A few years back my nephew, who was a huge Steve Irwin fan, caught dozens of Western Fox Snakes. I saw a few, but so far none this year.
