Thanks! Patchnoses have been on my "always wanted to catch" list for a long time. It was a bit odd to experience a snake that looks like a garter, yet acts like a racer.
Very enjoyable account, Tim! I appreciated the habit, invert, and people shots as much as the herps. It helped me feel like I was there.

any thoughts on night cruisinf around las vegas? i will be there in two days overnight and i already have the rental car lined up.
I am from michigan but I herp in every state i go to. Last time in vegas I drove valley of fire state park after dark and around lake mead - only found this one sidewinder. first one a yearling. it was mild manered and beutifull coloring.
any thoughts on a different area to drive???? south or red rock canyon? but I hear they close red rock access drive after dark.
