Questions about JUNGLES???

evercraig190 Jun 12, 2007 12:01 PM

ok first of all I am purchasing a male from Mark Hauge and its is an awesome looking snake. Well i went to local reptile show here in louisiana and i saw a female boa that looked just like a jungle..same square saddles and stripe on the tail and random pattern...my question is, could that have been a jungle? i mean it was only $85 bucks...a really good price for a jungle...i didnt buy the snake, and i really regret not buying it...but i also was thinking that it could have been a wierd looking normal...and then the guy was telling me that the jungle pattern isnt hereditary (sp?) or genetic..but thats a whole other conversation...and i really dont think he knew what he was talking about and he was just trying to make a sale...sorry for rambling...thanks for your time...

The Jungle line is a proven genetic line from Sweden. Of course there could be animals out there not from the swedish line that have the same gene. There are other lines of genetically driven aberencies that are jungle like. There are also sporadic pattern anomolies that look jungle-ish but are not genetic.

BTW, have a Pair of Mark's babies, you will NOT be dissapointed, they are stunning!!!!!

Jungles have been around for a while and some (unlike Marks's) have low expression babies that could be missed as jungles. As I understand it, those low expression babies can throw normal expression jungles so there could be "jungles" out there from the swedish line that are not identified as such.

Post up pics when you get your jungle!!!!

The best part about Swedish Jungles is that there is a "Super" form. It is even visual. Meaning if you breed two jungles together you can produce "Super Jungles." And if you breed a "Super Jungle" to any normal boa, all of the babies will be jungle. Yes that $85 boa might produce babies with a crazy pattern, but it will take you a couple years to find out, and even longer to find out if there is a "Super" form. The other awesome part about Swedish jungles is not just the crazy pattern, but the cleanliness, the contrast, and the color. I personally like jungles that don't have the jungle pattern but are extremely clean and have solid contrasty sattles. And even non-abberant(no crazy pattern) jungles can produce babies with lots of abberancies. Some people will knock the jungles because you sometimes see possible jungles, but that seems a bit close minded to me. They are well worth the investment. I am hoping to get one this summer.
Anyone can please feel free to correct anything I've said. I'm not an expert just a hobbiest.

how cheap he was letting those go for and how nice they were! A friend and I almost bought all of the jungles from that litter to resell them but never got around to it and they went pretty quick at the giving them away price! Anyways, good grab and keep up the good work. Your collection's looking good these days!

as soon as I saw the ad I jumped on it. They are stunning and OMG cheap. He sold the supers earlier (never saw the ad) and he said those got snapped up right away as well.

I got soooooooo much cool stuff to pair them with, besides each other!!!!!
