This pair is about 2 years old. I put them together once before and they were not interested in each other. I tried again a few days ago after she shed and they locked up in under a minute. I'm pretty excited, as I've not bred any hogs before.

Those two are dead ringers for my female pictured below (now gravid with her second clutch). If I may ask, where did you obtain them?

Hi,
Yeah ours could be related. In fact, I'm certain they are as from what I've gathered, all tri-colored hognose (L.pulcher that is) all come from the same group that was imported several years back. In any case, my pair is from Alex Hue.
Would you by chance be able to tell me how much your female weighs and maybe an approximate length?
They sure are some of the coolest snakes I've ever kept, and my first snakes to reproduce (hopefully!) outside of the elaphe group and pituophis.
Also, I just got my first clutch of Varanus acanthurus, and first clutches in both a CB gecko and an LTC gecko group. so I am psyched!
Did your pair start off real faded looking?

Also got a female from Alex hue that is now black and white. Got a Male from Jim MacDonald that darkened a little but still has a ton of red. Different species perhaps?

Doubtful. I had a male/female give me 5 clutches. Of those 5 clutches, 1 turned bicolor. It was born very faded. The red was more of a salmon pink. It is now almost all black and white, and is not even a year old.

Now our job is to selectively breed these guys till those last traces of pattern are gone-to make a truly black tricolor.
Mine was a very normal colored hatchling from an expo. Every shed for her first year resulted in s darker animal.
