New reptile owner

Brightfire Aug 16, 2003 10:49 PM

I've never owned any sort of reptile before. To be honest, I was scared of snakes until I saw some baby balls in a pet store last month. They looked so charming and interesting that I couldn't resist. After doing a lot of research, I finally decided to get a baby female from Amazon Reptile Center in California.

My new girl's name is Sriyana, or Sri for short, and is a real sweetheart. She seems to be fascinated with my hands - whether typing, writing, or just still in front of her face, she has to investigate them. But hair is her true love.. As you can see from this picture. My boyfriend said I should use her as a hairtie when I go to work and see what sort of reactions I get. :P

Anyways, here she is, taking a siesta in my hair.

She's gorgeous!! I love the name. Do you know what it means?

Hehehe. You THINK you'll just start out with one lil' snake. Then you'll end up with a whole houseful! Ball pythons are my all-time fav species. Next to Brazilian rainbow boas.

Thanks! I don't know what it means but it's a slight variation of the name Sriyani, which I found at www.kabalarians.com. I just switched the last i to an a because it sounded nicer to me. I think it might be Asian in nature, but I'm not sure.
