earthpig23 Aug 16, 2003 11:12 PM

I have always housed my snakes and reptiles in aquariums and usually spend almost as much on the tank as i do for the snake.LOL....but i have heard quite abit anout housing corns in sweater boxes. My question is do you just use and underneath heating pad only and if so what type is typically used? Any other heating and sweater box housing info would be greatly appreciated.

I heat mine with either ambient air....ie putting them on the right temped shelf in the beasty room. Or run flexwatt heat tape under one end. If your room temps are low you will want to use some sort of rack for containing the heat more I would think. Lights are too hot and will melt plastic.

I put mine in a wooden rack arrangement with regular old heating pads in the back for warmth. You can put the heating pad under the boxes or just up against it in the back. As long as the room doesn't get too cold in the winter (< 65 F) it works out fine. Some advantages over flexwatt tape - easy to find, already wired to a rheostat for some control, and still relatively cheap.

Good Luck!
