A Janie update

PHRatz Jun 13, 2007 08:40 AM

The vet is back and Janie spent the night in the hospital last night just so the vet could get her started on some meds.
Vet has come to the conclusion that Janie did not sit out in the chilly rain too long, no she ate small pebbles.
She's not completely blocked & yesterday after not eating for 8 days she still pooped. So this is a good thing, things are moving through her but the vet decided she was going to medicate Janie to make things move a little quicker.
The vet doesn't think she has some sort of serious disease she just needs to stop swallowing pebbles.
I'm so relieved!
I'll be picking her up sometime today. I suppose she'll stay indoors for another week or so until we get her eating again.

Yeah that's kind of what I thought, good news, I guess...
When I took her in she had pooped so I bagged that & took it with us. When I picked her up yesterday the vet said they had found a small rock in that particular poo.
So she did swallow some small rocks/pebbles & they are coming out but how am I going to stop her from doing it again?
The land is natural & it does have small pebbles in it.. if she were out in the wild it'd be the same story.
I dunno.....frustrating it is!
