10 gallon tanks

fireballdragonz Jun 13, 2007 11:39 AM

i was wondering if anyone has ever started their dragons off in 10 gallon fish tank with no carpet just glass bottom and a basking platform or rock? if so how did they do on the glass bottom. i was thinking of starting the off on the glass for the first few weeks then i will be moving them into the larger 30 gallon totes.
thanks Jason

i started my single babies in 10 gallons for the first couple months or so. it doesnt last long but it works. i have never tried the glass bottom before, dont think it would work too well. to me they wouldnt get any traction on the glass, dragons hate seeing their reflection in glass anyways, and lastly everytime they poop youd have to wash the tank. i just throw in newspaper for them now. in fact thats what i use in all my cages now, its easy to clean, replace, and its cheap *free*

"bb" pretty much nailed it. The glass is too slick, especially when they try to catch prey.

I use papertowels, and I even go thru the trouble of taping it down to keep those dang crickets from gettin' underneath it.

As far as size goes, its no condo but works well for a few babies for a few weeks or so.

Take care!
