A Silly Question Perhaps

bigsmooth1269 Jun 13, 2007 12:56 PM

Do snakes yawn. Yes I know its silly. But when I fed my Chondro on Sunday after he ate he would open his mouth, it had to do with the swollowing. Anyway he was active today, and hanging down and looking at me look at him on the outside of the cage. But he was opening his mouth and it was resembling a yawn. Is he doing this. Something weird. Etc etc.? Thanks

Completely normal. And a great photo op if you have a camera handy!

Basically they are just realigning there jaws, I don’t think its yawning in the same sense that we do (lack of air in the lungs)
