WC spilotes male

I guess he was imported about a month ago. Seems to have good body weight. Hasn't attempted to bite and actually mellows a bit when you hold him for a while. Any locality ideas?

About half way caudally his bright yellow markings dirty up. Right near the tail they turn a lemon yellow.

Hey Don, awesome looking boy. Looks very much like the two wc adults I picked up recently. I believe mine came in on a Surinam shipment. How's his appetite been so far?

I just got him this past weekend. I tried frozen thawed but no luck. This evening I'll throw a live mouse in and see what happens.

Day old chicken chicks are a favorite food for fresh imports and it puts weight on them. Mc Murray hatchery will ship up cheap to your local post office, I have a load coming in monday.......Bill

Thanks for the info. He has refused live mice and fuzzies so I think I'll try the chicks.

My two big adults both took live rat crawlers as their first meals out of the jungle. My male then went on to refuse those for a bit, but proceeded to take f/t chicks left in his hide box with him during the day. Now they both pound the f/t small rats off tongs like there's no tomorrow. I found the male especially to be very shy about food when I first got them in. He really preferred to have the prey item (preferably f/t) left in his hide box with him all day so he could eat it at his leisure.

Best of luck with him! He's a beauty!

He showed no interest in a live mouse. I may have to pick up some chicks.
