Website question?

zefdin Jun 13, 2007 09:43 PM

I look at alot of peoples websites and I notice most peoples prices are reflective of current prices. I say current prices based upon prices on KS and other similar wesites and shows.

My question is, I notice some people have prices that are WAY higher than the current going rate?

I know people, of course, can charge whatever they want for their animals.

However, is it that people have such a well known name that they feel they can charge $750 for a male pastel or 3k for a mojave still?

I would hope this is the case, and not that they think that, with name recognition, unknowing customers will come to their website and pay what they think is the going rate, and people that know will just negotiate them down from there.

That would be an underhanded way to do business in my opinion, and I would never buy fom someone who would take advantage of an unknowing customer, just because the seller has the big Ad and the name recognition.

A lot of people don't update their available page much. Although there are some people that maintain higher prices as a jumping off point for negotiations - but most often it's just an old page.

I understand that some websites do not get updated.

However, if your paying for a rolling / flashing banner and your ads are on several different places, I would think they are very active with their business and updating their site is not an oversite.

5x's the going rate is not a "jumping off" point in my opinion.

Good point.

I recently asked someone where I was supposed to look for availables, as they literally had empty tables on their avail page. I was told they had 50 ads on KS. Gee, how much time did they spend putting all those ads up?

I have often wondered about the overpriced ads too. 5Xs more just doesn't seem right to me either.
