Parasite-Free! (+ OT field herping pics)

Raveness_d Jun 13, 2007 10:20 PM

Lola's fecal came back negative. Her wheeze is gone, and although she hasn't eaten a proper sized meal in three weeks (she should be eating medium-large rats), she finally took 5 rat pups for me this evening.
I hope it isn't a trend, or feeding day may have just gotten a little more complicated.

I was going through some stored pics as of late, and came across some shots of herps I've encountered on my hikes here in Southern Ontario. Thought you guys might enjoy them.

Painted Turtles

Some Five-Lined Skinks

A beautiful, docile Garter. She had some amazing blues and reds in her, which may or may not be evident in the first photo.

Glad to hear your snake is parasite free. I love field pictures, When I get a camera I will have to take a ride to Sussex, NJ. I know a place that has several different endangered and threatened species, most notably salamanders.

Also, in Sussex, I know a spot where cardinal flowers have been growing for the past 30 years, yep saw them for the first time when I was a little "swamp man" on a nature walk with the Swartswood, State Park, female Naturalist. ( who I had a crush on BTW ) That woman is the only reason I know the name and location of that flower. She made mention that this is the only place in the Park the flower has been found & about how it comes back up every year. So every time I go their in the summer, I have to hike into the woods to check them out. Last time I was there was 5 years ago. Another trip is way over do.

Beautiful flowers Frank, thank you for sharing.

We went herping/birding again today, and only came up with an American Toad and a Green Frog or two.

I did finally see an American Woodcock for the first time.
