Argentine Boas?

pyroboas Jun 13, 2007 10:26 PM

I recived a breedig pair of argentine boas, i know there on CITES 1, but am unclear of wether or not i am aloud to still breed and sell with in the united states or do i still need to jump through political loop holes. I don't plan on shipping out side of the US so i don't think it would matter however i have been wrong before so if any one with more legal back round has anyclue that would be great, also if i do need permits how does one obtaine said permits. thanks

Not to worry about the Argentine's. CITES only applies when shipping animals from one country to another. Movement of native and exotic species within the U.S. from one State to another is regulated by the Office of Management Authority under the US Fish and Wildlife Service. And this is only if that species is listed in the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Argentine's are not a listed species under the ESA and so can be bred, sold, or transported anywhere in the US without permits.
