The "Darwin award" refers to Darwin's theory of evolution...that is only the strongest, smartest creatures survive....Usually we say that someone is gunnin' for a Darwin award when they are free-handling or otherwise doing something stupid or careless with a potentially lethal animal...this is because if they keep doing stupid things, they will eventually succumb to Darwin's theory...hence they will have won the "Darwin award"...

It's like a badge of honor....for stupidity.

Not trying to be nit-picky, I just wanted to point something out real quick...

That is not a good representation of darwinian evolution... A more correct statement would be that the fittest animals (those that are best suited for the environment they are in) tend to survive and reproduce and have their genes represented by later generations. A lot of times strong and smart has nothing to do with evolutionary path... Look at the many different highly evolved parasites in the world and how
"imple" and elegant they are, and how well they survive without being smart or strong.
