Designing a snake room, please post pics

jawn Jun 14, 2007 10:43 AM

Well I am moved into a new house and its time to give the snakes their own room(s) instead of using a crowded bedroom. They are getting big and need their space.

My plan is to have 2 rooms. One smaller room to keep at an incubation temp for hatchlings and yearlings (yearround). The other to keep seasonal (hot in summer, cool/cold in winter. The seasonal room I plan to have a window in but not in the incubation room. Does this sound OK?

Anyways my main concerns are ventilation and natural light. Maybe they would be considered luxury to some but to me at least the natural light seems pretty important when it comes to breeding. I would like to build at least an intake and exhaust into each room so that the air can be emptied with clean natural air once in a while.

Also I plan to have a sink and couter top in each room to make cleanups easier. Please post any tips or comments about things you wish you had or can't live without in your snake rooms.

Photos would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey bud I am actually also in the process of designing my snake room... I will be renovating the entire place. One thing I thought I would mention is that I have zero natural light for my snakes... my lights are on a timer and they go off earlier/later depending on when the sun goes down outside
