Moisture Munchies

For those who don't know what this is, here is the site with the recipe information:

I made some today with a packet of agar agar I bought from a chinese market which costed me $0.79. I used about half the pack content to make a bowl full of cubed munchies. The thing is, I think I added a little more than the 2 Tablespoon the recipe asked for (cause I was paranoid and thought a little more couldn't hurt since I don't want runny munchies)... Well, lets say it came out nice and stiff, but still moist. The texture seems more like soft rubber glue sticks.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else made these munchies. What would happen if you tried to add liquid vitamins right in the mixture or would the heat kill the nutrients. I am thinking of trying next time with some fruit juice and exactly how much agar agar the recipe says to see how it turns out.

Methinks this is MUCH better than using sodium polyacrylate!

I think you could do it. What you'd have to do, would be to add the liquid vits after the stuff was partially cooled, but before it had fully gelled. BTW, I think it may be better to make the stuff a bit on the stiffer side, as you did. If it's too runny, it would tend to stick to bedding or substrate, and may even adhere to the beasties themselves.
