something you have to try some time...

get a white phase brooksi from brandon and breed it to a flame hypo. the hets alone are really incredible. i held back one '06 male that is going to put the cream in screamer.

hey rainer,

you use anery and axanthic a couple of times. just curious if it a new england axanthic or a bhb anery that you bred to the sulfur?
i think breeding the ne axanthic to the bone white hypo will be very interesting.
good luck with all your projects!

The sulfurs have the BHB anerys bred into them. But there seems to be two different lines of BHB anerys that look identical. One line is not allelic with the other axanthic strains. Thge one I used is allelic. Confusing I know.

Last year Rick Trenny bredhis BHB to a Lemke axanthic and the babies came out hets. A forum member here (Horrdus) bought some from him. There is also a "rumor" that the BHB anery is codom... Weird. But I guess we will never know unless someone tracks down these sources. First, Rick passed away just recently so we don't know if the offspring came from retained sperm or ?? Second Brian Barzyck himself... I have never asked him about his anerys except when I purchased mine several years ago from him and back then knowbody knew if they allelic or codom. Since then, someone needs to find out if he started these rumors or it was someone else? SOMEONE shopuld call Brian up! Gues it will have to be me.

The neat thing is there are soooo many things and possibilities with the florida kings. SO many morphs and yet the area needs to be explored more. I think there are many more new morphs out there. First with the codom ultra Peanut Butter and now with rumors that the anerys are also a codom. I believe there is a good future for brooks kings at this time.

Yeah, don't I know it, what a great place to be. I am happy that there is that potential with my favorite getula. and don't forget the ones that you aren't working with... too many to count. I think one of the most important things to do is to record and confirm the lineage and combinations used to make new morphs, so there isn't the confusion once others get involved- like where did albinos or white sides come from? hahaha...

y'know, i may be wrong, but i always figured that hets and/or double hets would be where a breeder would make a bit of money on a new morph. once the visual morph was available, prices would start to lower and adjust. was it like that in earlier times? i imagine that business concept is dead in today's market due to a prevalence of non-ethics and a "gimme now" mentality.

get 'r done

Thomas, those are most likely staying with me. Unless I have all males or something like that I plan on holding onto a lot of my new brooks morph hets and crosses this year. How do you expect me to stay on top in a few years if i have to sell them.

You always got to think ahead!!!!! That why I always liked the name "7 generations reptiles". Remember them? I thought what a weird name and then it dawned one me. What hets people don't want today the lazy people will pay the big bucks for the offspring of the results. Heck- it only takes two years to get florida king females to breed, so its not that long of a wait comapred to other snakes. But if you add in the orignal morphs, and raising them up to breed each other to create hets, then add the time it takes them to reach breeding size and then you only get 1/16 possibilities. Whew! People that want the finished product will never appreciate the work put into them.

ANyway i will keep you in mind Thomas. Will you be at Daytona in August??

Do you have a website or where will you post what you will be selling your Brooksi offspring at...how can the "commoners" know this information?

Commoners? LOL!

I don't have a website and post most things on the classifieds here on KS every year. There are too many new morphs I breed for me to keep up a website. I have been doing this for a looong time and it works fine this way for me. I try to stay ahead of the game and don't work much with the common stuff. About the only thing I offer that has not changed is the "pure" New England axanthics. Those are something a lot of people use the name (New England) but they are not pure. I can't control what others do.

I also have a lot of repeat business and/or just rely on word of mouth. I have been doing florda kings (brooksi) for 15 years so i have been around just not on a website. Before that i specialized in rosy boas.

IMO haveing a website gives certain people false credibility. I can think of one person who used to post on here who bought a snake from me and was asking a bunch of newbie questions. Then 2 years later he had a website and people thought of him as an expert. Keep you ear to the ground in this hobby and you will find out who is who and DON'T GO BY A WEBSITE.

If you want something from my list my hatchlings will be late in the year. Most newer people spend their money when the first clutches hatch of the year (June-July) and my clutches won't be avaliable until august-sept.
