screen cage for beardies?

is a screen cage ok for a bearded dragon?

yes and no. it depends on who you are talking to. it is difficult to keep the cage warm enough for a bearded dragon if you are using a screen cage. also if you use a substrate such as sand it will end up out of the screen cage. the better thing about screen cages is that reptiles do not know what glass is and it takes awhile for the babies to figure this out(they will run into it and get scared of their reflection) which can be stressful on the lizard. also, some reptiles love to climb on the screen sides of the cage. i wouldn't recommend it for a bearded dragon but you could make it work. screen cages are a lot better for something that doesn't require such high temperatures.

If you are talking about an Reptarium, they recommend using an assortment of their tray liners on the sides and bottoms of the cage, in order to help keep the heat in. Of course, this adds to the cost...
