Best arboreal exotic for a beginner?

Redkite7 Jun 15, 2007 02:00 PM

Hello!

I've been volunteering for a (very) small museum's animal department for the last couple weeks, and they may soon be having a new enclosure open up, and asked me to figure out what to put in there.

The enclosure is about three feet by two feet and at least six feet tall (I can stand completely up in it and I'm 5'7". Since it's a museum and somewhat of a display, the animal needs to be diurnal, and fairly easy to care for since the curator of the department is not what you'd call an exotics expert. =)

What do you guys think would best utilize this space? I was thinking perhaps one of the species of chameleons (Jackson's or Veiled), but I've never personally owned one so I'm not sure how hard they are to care for practically.

Thanks!
Redkite

the jungle carpet python or any carpet python would be good. they may be a little snapy when young but they are quite tame when older. they are normally very active and very beautiful. they are also all good eaters. provide a water bath though.
