A lot depends on what its final size will be. I have adults that range in size from 32g to 48g. Cresteds will gain weight faster as they get older. I would guess a 7 to 12g crested is about 5 months old.

I think 35 grams is about the minimum weight for a female to be breeding, so that probably qualifies as a decent minimum to consider them to have reached adult size.

thanks. i have two more questions also, is it necessary to have a high humidty in the cage if there is a humid hide, and will they eat fruits that aren't smashed up, like if i put sliced peaches and bananas in the cage would they just take bites out of them.

70 percent humidity is ideal. The best way to do this is to spray the cage once or twice a day. It is important for shedding that they have this humidity. I also use a water dish mostly to help with humidity. Some people do, others don't. They mostly drink from being sprayed, I have found. As far as whole fruit, I am not sure. They dont have teeth so it would probably need to be very soft. I feed them babyfood or CGD and crickets. Its easy.

thank you very much for the help. i plan on getting a few babies in a few weeks. I'm looking at tigers and dalmations. those are my favorite ones. hopefully I'll be able to start a breeding project when they are older.
