I am building a hide box for my female BHP. She is 8 to 9 feet long. I was building one that is 17 by 24 inches but it sure looks small to me. Especially if a male wants to share in with her when I introduce them.
What size hid box do you recommend for these guys? Thanks for your help.

I use rubbermaid 32 quart containers for my BHP's. Leave the lid on, cut a hole in the top of the lid and they LOVE it!!!
I've found top entry hides... the BEST for BHP's.

Good Idea. Easy to clean, doesn't absorb water, can take the lid off to see inside. And, thanks for your help on the other issues I had.

Derek, do you use the transparent or the dark ones? I went looking at a few store today and all they have is the transparent ones.

I use the transparent ones. It doesn't seem to bother them... that it's clear.

I bought one transparent box to try it out. The big female was checking it out within five minutes. She eventually went into the box and was there for the whole night. Still in there when I left for work this morning. My heat source is on the other side of the cage. I am going to be curious as to what she wants more, heat or seclusion.
The intelligence, alertness and inquisitiveness of these pythons never cease to amaze me.
