Where are all the babies?

medyssa Jun 16, 2007 01:36 PM

I have only seen OT posts on here recently? Is no one due to have babies for a while?
I am going to be down to one baby left as of tonight, Aladdin is getting picked up by a previous customer who bought my holdback Riley last year around Christmas.
The one remaining, Mad Hatter, is going to be on hold for a while, just until things calm down a bit during the summer.
Everyone else is doing fine and I want to get my females with my males again but I cant cool them down enough to stimulate mating.
Maybe I will get a surprise later this year.
Good luck to everyone!

Yours was definately an early litter and for CA, way early. I don't have AC so have to wait for the weather to change enough to allow cooling. As such my typical "big" month for babies is August. All the girls are looking great and I'm patiently waiting. OK, I lied, checking several times a day!!

Blame it on extremely good conditions, Cleo (Zoe and Ziggy's mom) was overweight and so perfect for breeding, plus she had been kept in a cold garage with just a heat pad on the bottom of her gigantic cage. She was well cooled (a bit too much so) and when I got her I didnt even wait to fully quarantine, only a week or two to see if anything was showing to be wrong with her(yes, I know big risk!). Aside from being apparently blind in one eye, its all cloudy, she is in great health (still) and is beefing up for next year.

Jess,
..We had a very late and warm winter here in the south. Mine did not get cooled until late and most litters will probably arrive august and september. The Argentinian Rainbows bred way early and had their litter last month. The Campina Grande Rainbows bred early and I am hoping for a very small litter from the female soon. I think I am having another bust year with the Peruvians and Isla Marajos.
