Speaking of Pastel..

zefdin Jun 16, 2007 03:34 PM

Who has the brightest line?

Is it Matrix?

I may be in the market for a male, and I want a really, really clean one that has NO brown on top at all.

Suggestions where I can look or go?

Alan

no brown on top? you mean no brown pigment or do you mean a stripe back (see genetic stripes)

only way to have no brown at all, is to get an albino/pastel combo

For the full or partial stripe back, well, need to cross a pastel to a genetic stripe.

Or at least that is all I can think of on how to get a 'no brown on top' pastel line...

I mean where it browns out on top, not the markings.

I want one that has the neon yellow coloration.

I am tired of the ones that brown out on top.

If you can find a killer adult Pastel, that you like, buy it! Otherwise, I think pretty much all normal Pastels Brown out to a degree. If you want a neon Pastel, you might have to buy a cross. The Fire Pastel, comes to mind. My Sulfur Pastel (not for sale) is pretty amazing too, and actually lightens up as he ages. He does have a few Brown scales, but nothing anyone in their right mind would call browning out. Vanilla Pastel might be a good option too. The pics show a Pastel and a Pastel Sulfur, both have Bell line bloodlines. In the first pic, remember, the Orange will usually turn Brown, where Yellow usually stays Yellow. The Sulfur Pastel is the animal that looks like a Super Pastel, in the pics.

I understand this Dave. I am not looking for a combo either.

I want a bright yellow(not the orangish color) pastel (hint), Turner, Matrix, Bell, Nerd, Ruppel..

I know what to do with it already, I just wanted an extremely clean one thats all.

When I was in the market for a pastel I was told by many that the blond matrix is the best, they hold there color, I bought a male blond and he is unreal, so far every shed he gets more yellow.

EmberBall Jun 16, 2007 04:52 PM

That is a NICE Pastel, definately post some more pics! Well, I think this is your answer! OR, contact NERD and ask for a Pick of the Litter Lemon.

Thank you, I was in awe and still am with this guy..

ballzy Jun 17, 2007 04:12 AM

Wow, he looks great. Where did you get him?

melindaste Jun 17, 2007 08:12 AM

Super serpents , Awesome guy to deal with.

The old saying still holds true there are ugly and nice pastels for every line. Even the cleanest Matrix Blonde will give you ugly babies if the selective breeding isn't maintained - as much as if you selectively breed a nice Graziani - you'll get very clean babies.

Judge each baby on it's own merit - anything other than yellow will brown out over time. Or just look around and buy a nice looking adult and be done with it.

NERD's lemom pastels are the best pastels IMO
but make sure you get a NERD lemon. not just a pastel that they call a lemon

Like what was said before it can depend on each individual animal all lines have nice expressions of the morph.
Adult male last year looks same now

2 of his offspring last year

same 2 one month ago

they seem to be holding there color nicely and like dad they seem to get lighter with each shed kinda like the blonds hope this helps just keep looking till you find what you want.

Nice and Bright.. Super in the future? It will be amazing.

joshhutto Jun 16, 2007 08:57 PM

like everyone else said, selectively bred pastels are the key. All the originators have selectively bred their lines to get what they look for in a pastel. I personally like bright yellows and crisp black. We went with Gulf Coast Reptiles since they breed true with all their morphs and never just produce a clutch to add volume. You cannot go wrong if you check them out, many of theirs look like supers and stay that way. This is our male at around 1000g and he looks awesome. hope you like the pics.

We got our Pastels from Inland Reptiles and they are from the Blonde Pastel Line...out of all the pastels we have seen in person they have been the most beautiful in my opinion...

Male as a youngster

Male at 387 grams

Outside Pic (Washed out alot of the yellow)

I personally have not seen many Bling Bling Pastels at an older age, many if not all gain some "browning" or "Muddying" as they age....But some lines do stay more yellow and a little "cleaner"...

I got a NERD line lemon from Tony Hurt at SnakeEvolutions and I love it. He gets a little dark when he's about to shed, but afterwards...he is blazing!
