Pastel? Albino Burm?!?!

okreptilerescue Jun 16, 2007 11:05 PM

Anyone ever heard of a pastel albino burm?
I got 2 yesterday- she said the guy she got them from told her they were pastel albinos that were 100% het for green....

I've looked and looked for pics or info about these guys- anyone heard of it?
what are they worth? are they common (and i just cant find them), who has them for sale?

thanks-
ps- they have a much more orange color to them as oppose to the regular albino burms- its fantastic!!

I personally have never heard of a pastel burm. I have heard of the obvious, albino, green, labyrinth, granite, and the many combinations of them and I have heard of a few you do not see very often, Fader and blonde but never a pastel. Did you get them from a breeder and if so were whomever you purchased them from trying to pass them off as a new or unproven morph. I would contact the originally person that claimed them to be pastel and see what they have to say. Hope this helps, Todd

I got them as a rescue- they were getting too big- she told me what store she got them from and... yha- not a good place to buy anything- lots of sick animals.... I just didn't know what they were worth... They do have a much more orange color to them- as oppose to the yellow- they make our other albino's look... faded almost.... any ideas?

HOw big/old are they. Not sure if you are aware of the fact that pretty much all albino burms go through a color change once they start obtaining breedable size. They lose their bright orange color and go to the familiar yellow and white. You probably are aware of this but you never know...lol. Anyway, good luck with them and hope everything works out good with them. Post some pics if you could, who knows might be helpfull. Todd

yha I know about the color change- We've had tons of burms- we've got 4 right now- we had i think 9 at one time. I wish people would quit breeding them. we've gotten everything- granites, lab.s, greens, and combos of everything. its amazing what people are willing to get rid of- considering thier price tags!! anyway- they're still pretty young but old enough to have the color change done with- I think they're 3- we've got a 3 1/2 year old that is about the same size and side by side they she looks faded
i think we've decided they're just regular albinos- but they did say they were 100% het for green- but I don't ever fall for that and considering the place they bought them- I really don't believe it.
thanks for your input-
Beth
