The Chec. Republic is one of the largest centers for illegal animal trade in the world. For many years it was the Capital for all illegal trade. The Government there is now trying to place sanctions and better controls on the export of animals from there. They are working hard to ensure the illegal trade it stopped but as of yet they have not been 100% successful. If your Veiled came from Yemen Via the Chec. Republic more than likely it was illegally imported into the US. For one reason the US Customs does now allow importation from Yemen (and other Terrorist harboring Countries. My supplier in Yemen wanted to ship my order to Europe and then it would be re-exported to me here in the US. Well Us Customs said at that time nothing the originated from Any of the banned countries could be imported into the US. If the person you received the animal from was successful in legally importing the animal they should be able to provide you with a copy of the CITES documents and the legality can be tracked through the USFW from the port that the shipment entered. If the animal was shipped, and not cleared through USFW the shipment is illegal and even the person with possession of the animal (even if they did not receive the animal directly from the Chec. Republic can find themselves in trouble with USFW. Any importation of a CITES animal without proper documentation and inspections is illegal importation and subject to a $5000 fine and up to 5 years in prison.
