My Kayuadi female...

Scott_Austin Jun 17, 2007 04:16 PM

Just wanted show her off. I got her 2 years ago at an expo. It took her over a year to finally eat her first meal for me. Once she started she hasn't looked back and eats everytime. She gets a little feisty with me from time to time, but luckily she hasn't gotten me yet. She bred with my albino male this year but no eggs. Hopefully this year will be better.

Hi, Winslow here.
Nice girl there. She looks plump and happy in her multilayered cage. How big was she when you got her?

Generally, older bigger indo pythons either breed thier first year in country (USA) or breed after 3-5 years of steady growth. Young animals which come in as juveniles and babies tend to acclimate faster and breed at their usual time, in the case of a well fed and cared for female wild juvenile at say 2 to 3 years of age in capivity. At least this was my experience with my only wild caught female Kayuadi who was up to 4 ft at the time I bought her from Mike Wilbanks of Constrictors Unlimited- 9 months or so after her import.

I state the above having worked for almost a decade with captive and a few wild type green tree pythons and having had longstanding communication with VPI pythons (David Barker- all in the late 90s), as well as my experience with my female wild type juvenile who bred after about 2 years of heavy feeding from a juvenile, one time, and produced a small very nice clutch. On her second year of breeding, she became egg bound and scattered fertilized eggs over a 1-2 month period then died a year later after recycling and breeding but never laying.

BTW,
the pic in the last post was my CBB 2-1/2 yo grown up Kayuadi female that I got via Pro Exotics who got the babies via CB wild eggs laid/hatched at Bushmaster Herp that were brokered to Pro exotics. She is feeding up now approaching the age of ten for another clutch this coming spring. This pic is the other female that i got from Pro Exotics that bred three years later at the age of 6 years old- slow learner.

I got her about 2 years ago. Abd she hasn't grown in length very much at all. Maybe a foot, but she is really fast and it is hard to get an idea of her length. She has fattened up a bunch and is in the 9-10 range.
