Hi, Winslow here.
Nice girl there. She looks plump and happy in her multilayered cage. How big was she when you got her?
Generally, older bigger indo pythons either breed thier first year in country (USA) or breed after 3-5 years of steady growth. Young animals which come in as juveniles and babies tend to acclimate faster and breed at their usual time, in the case of a well fed and cared for female wild juvenile at say 2 to 3 years of age in capivity. At least this was my experience with my only wild caught female Kayuadi who was up to 4 ft at the time I bought her from Mike Wilbanks of Constrictors Unlimited- 9 months or so after her import.
I state the above having worked for almost a decade with captive and a few wild type green tree pythons and having had longstanding communication with VPI pythons (David Barker- all in the late 90s), as well as my experience with my female wild type juvenile who bred after about 2 years of heavy feeding from a juvenile, one time, and produced a small very nice clutch. On her second year of breeding, she became egg bound and scattered fertilized eggs over a 1-2 month period then died a year later after recycling and breeding but never laying.
