What was supposed to be my best year ever turned out not-so-good. I managed to produce 1 clutch of amels and snows plus I still have a clutch from a lavender female and 3 eggs from one of my bairds due to hatch. Next year I am removing water bowls completely (no matter how small) as most of my females managed to ruin their eggs by laying them directly in the water...ugh. I also wanted to give some females a year off BUT they decided to lay (bad) eggs anyway DESPITE not being with a male for over a year!! My pine snake went egg bound and was dangerously close to needing vet care. Furthermore, I lost a virgin 7 yr old female Green Tree Python and two breeder male Columbians (het Albino) whose partners had plans other than breeding. Finally, my female BRB gave birth prematurely....but I may have 3 survivors so its not a total loss. Other than that...I had about another half dozen dwarf boas that simply did not breed. Anyone who says breeding snakes is easy, hasn't had a bad year yet! lol. Well...I guess it's the familiar morphs that keep ya going...oh...and to keep things in perspective...everything has eaten first attempt so far this season (knock on wood)
last but not least...my little helper...she loves snakes but LOVES baby mice even more...wait till she figures out their fate
