Hello all,
Just wondering is anybody has had a boxie with constipation? odd question I know but I have two of the five that will not eat or only eat very little. Just wondering if that may be the problem?? I have started to soak them for about 30 minutes daily to make sure they are hydrated so... ??

Do you know if the 2 are males or females because females sometimes do not eat if they are about to lay eggs. How do the eyes look on them?

Hello Jerry,

I have read about the breeding/mating thing but wasn't sure if that was the case. The two in question are: one male Three Toe 6-7yrs.and one female Ornate.unk.yrs(approx 8 via the vet). I also have two other Three Toed's(male and female) and another Ornate. All of them are eating well.

The turtle might not be eating for a variety of different reasons, constipation being one of them. Making sure that your turtles have ready access to clean water for soaking and drinking is very important anyway.

I was going to do a post on this problem but I just read yours. I have an 8-year old 3-toed female who hasnt pooped in 7 days. She hasnt eaten much in 4 days. This happens now and then. When she does finally poop, it is normal. I guess the best I can do for her is to make sure she has clean water for soaks? I am going to try warm water in the soak dish to see if that helps loosen things up.
