I enjoy niles, black tree, bluetail, ornates, crocs.... but laces, they where my worst nightmare.
Maby if they are available cheap someday like niles are now, few select experienced people will keep niles and lots of newby will get the "worst food focussing impredictable lace"!

I gave my opinion, isn't the goal of a forum?. If i think an opposite direction as your's i can't get any respect from you? Lace make good captive in your book? They are not dangerous when food is around? ... Even more than niles? You think you still keep lace if they where 6$ African monitor? Explain me why?

It was just my opinion. It's not about you and me, i just want to know why people who experience keeping lace still like them?...

Because you have no idea what your talking about. My lacies are great, they are MY favorite montior. I sit with them all the time. But Hey, we are each allowed to have whatever favorite we want. The males can be a little touchy, but the females, are sweet as can be.
They are closely followed by Croc monitors, I have bred them too. But considering no one in the states has hatched lacies but me. And several have bred Crocs, I got rid of my crocs until several are breeding lacies then I will get crocs again.

But at least I am doing SOMETHING, other then winging around.

The real point is, I am glad you like what you like, but to post a post like you did, is well, RUDE. hahahahahaha In just shows your inexperience. Cheers

Wanting to talk only about all is success story and returning all situations about him and is success. Maby old men want people to remember them as a great men at what they where doing. Share those moments Frank cause young guns are behind you.....
Success, inexperience? He, we can't have all this in one day, we have to be old to have experience. Maby this post show more my difficulty to translate than my inexperience...

Now the reason why i hate lace is more clear, would it change my lace point of view? No, not yet. I still remember what this monitor behavior was.. but now i'm open to the fact i had an exception. Fiouf! Never wish those kind of exception to nobody. This monitor was more boring than a roache. This is my experience with lace. Should i be hit with stone for sharing that?
I wanted to learned from others experience with lace. It seem only 2 guys here where ready to give sign on lace behavior and few others to put woods in the fire. I asked questions, rude way....probably. But i never said anything to insult, out of the monitor context... I also have my limits! I do not wanted to proove anything to nobody. Hey, i got nothing to proove what i'm saiyng...nothing to proove, about nothing. A gave my opinion about lace, but it seem to disturb...

As I said, you are welcome to like whatever you want, I could careless. But I hope the day comes you post a pic of your prized blacktrees mating, and some sad person comes along and says blacktrees are bad and they had a bad experience with them. I am sure many many people had bad experiences witht them(what ever that means)

Truthfully when someone says they had a bad experience, I look at the keeper and not the monitor. Its the keeper whos lacking

But no worries, it will not be me, because I like and respect all monitors. I just have problems with some keepers.

About young guns, again, I do what I do for me. Not you, not anyone. I do not care about young guns. I do not keep or breed monitors for them. Or to be better then anyone. I do it because I like seeing them hatch. And some are hatching now. SO by, I said by. Cheers

i think those are both great pictures FR, and as for you chuck911jeep he wasnt asking you to enjoy keeping lace monitor he was giving us pictures to enjoy. you are rediculous for saying that you wish for them to be available cheap like niles because if they become cheap like niles they will have a higher percentage that will share the same fate as 95% of niles, which is to be stuck in an aquarium 20 times to small for it where it will live for a year or two on dog food, scammbled eggs and whatever other things their owner can think of. then dies a terrible slow death. thanks for the pics once againg FR.

First, did I say lacies deserve a better owner then any monitor? No I did not, and no one else did either. ITs only your twisted weirdo thoughts that make such a thought.

As far as what they(any monitor) deserves, No monitor deserves to be cheap and kept poorly. And lastly, if thats how you think, they deserve to NOT be kept by you. Cheers

Sorry to hear about your feelings with lace!

But here are the facts, the lace you got from me was crazy, that’s why you got it free, Mr. German took my money and did exactly what I asked him not to do, he sent me the only animal I didn’t want, and when I called him on this he asked me to send him more money because euros are worth more then USA $, the thing is euros where introduced after I received this monitor hahaha what a dishonest jerk.

Anyway this runt caused me anger every time I saw it, so I gave it to you, then you gave it back to me and I exchanged it for 2 uromastyx.

I hope you understand that lace are awesome monitors, they deserve a lot more credit then you give them, don’t let one crazy hot female keep you away from these top varanids.

For those who don’t know what a hot female is, it’s the result of improper incubation (usually to hot) these females are never fertile have neurological damage and bizarre behaviours.

You see, everything have explanation. That's the only thing i was looking for: To see why people still like them? Now i know. I wasn't attaking anyone...

Best reptiles that I've ever owned are my Lacie pair. Extremely intelligent and a joy to work with. They're calm and inquisitive but they are aggressive feeders which I like.

I feel it wasn't what you meant to do, but you basically called Franks monitors trash. You are perfectly welcome to your opinion but you must understand that people only have the context of what you wrote and not what you think, and what you wrote was inconsiderate and rude. You probably did not mean it that way, but that's what it came out as, if it were my pics that you seemed to be putting down I wouldn't be thrilled.

Anyway, with that said, beautiful monitors Frank, thanks for sharing.

I didn't want to put is laces (yes lace look mangificent) or is pics down. I wanted to tell how bad was my experience was with lace, but it seem i had an exception. Sorry about the confusion i made.

This was my first hatching monitor, first time... what a nice moment he? But look at what i show my friends, when i talk about this memorable moment...

Few months after. You probably know already, it wasn't me behind the camera. Haha!

Will still reading for a while (and maby buy a new camera or camera lessons), maby my post will reflect my intentions in a few years of english practice.

Sorry, I had to I do have a point though, before you shoot the messenger! You're basing your opinion on a single animal you had, and as we all know, animals are individuals (and from the sounds of it, yours was very much so). That doesn't mean that you can't have an opinion about them, that just means that you should realize that you are relatively inexperienced with them. That means your opinions might not paint a clear picture of what this species is really like. But, it's still your opinion, and you are free to post it. I wasn't offended by your post, but I also don't keep lacies and have no personal attachment to them. That's why I brought your jeep into play for this little gag post. Obviously you like your jeep, so you might not like hearing that other people have terrible experiences with them. That is, in a nutshell, why you were met with opposition.

But, I've never owned a jeep. I'm more of a ford truck man myself, and that means I have NO reason to hold a discussion about the reliability of vehicles, though I am very happy with my new (used) ranger! Great gas mileage from this little six-cylinder pickup.

did you ever work with the pink-banded morph of the Lace Monitor. I've only had 2 in all these years. Just wondering if they breed true or if their polymorphic....Tom Crutchfield

Hi Tom, I am not sure what you mean? if its a bells morph(banded), then no. By the time I got mine, all the bells in the country had disappeared.

The last two I saw were at the Research station in Portal az. The fella there had two, but they were stolen, and that was that.

I have seen them in OZ, and someone in Europe tried to ship one into the states, but it did not make it(legally) F&W would not allow it in, even thought it has export papers from the country in Europe.

I have hatched a few bizzare ones. From nearly all yellowish white, to some banded sorta types. I hatch a lot with very pinkish tails, that often goes halfway up the back. Cheers
