Now this was a good present. Twelve nice eggs from my Falcon hypo. She normally lays 8-10 eggs but 12 is her biggest. This is her third year breeding. She only gave me one clutch last year (10 eggs and one slug) so maybe she's making up for lost time. She's also 10 days early compared to last year and this year only went through one shed cycle (instead of the normal two) before swelling with eggs.
It's been kind of a weird year so far. It seemed like the snakes wanted nothing to do with breeding in April, but May 1 hit and it was like flipping a switch. Now all my females (except the black milks) are fat with eggs. The blacks look like they are going to be a little late this year. They are breeding but no obvious swellig yet.
The hypo was second to lay. My first snake to lay is my smallest het-albino. She's real small (only 400 grams), kinda ugly, and probably 8 or 9 years old (got her in a trade) - BUT she breeds like clockwork giving two clutches of 4 to 6 good eggs every year that when bred to my tangerine albino throw some nice peach phase babies. This year she laid on the same date as last year (June 7) but gave me seven good eggs, a clutch size record for her.
