Can you see her, and the hosta.

whoever said three toeds were shy and didn't like interaction never met my girls, here she comes.

and for those afraid to use hostas cause they get too big, if you plant them in full/mostly sunny locations they dwarf and plump outward, mine looked raggy last year when I first planted it, it's a huge round ball of leaves thats still growing now, and it barely touches the top of my pen, all 3 of the adults can occasionally be found sitting by the hosta.

I've also added more strawberries and a small raspberry to the pen

I love her face peeking out in the first photo!!! How cute!!

A quick note about Hostas...there are well over 100 hybrids available some dwarf (less that 12" tall), some giant (over 36" tall). When purchasing a plant, check the labeling to find out how big it will get.

heres a pic of the hosta last year, the leaves were being broken by the top of the pen, it's getting more sun than it did last year as well, since we lost a lilac to a wind storm this spring.
it use to stand about 15 inches tall, it now stands 10 inches tall.

there are several varieties but hight and size can also be effected by the growing conditions.

Great picture your turtle has a sneeky smile.

The hosta is "gold standard" it is a nice varigated and the leaves are big enough for the turtles to use as umbrellas.
