incubating temps

jimfmcdonald Jun 18, 2007 11:06 PM

I know these guys like it cool, like in the low 70s.
I have had them set up that way for a year or so and they have been doing great! now I think all three females are going to lay eggs soon but what temps do they need? I do all my hognose and other snake eggs at about 80 and they do well but this will be my first time with these ratsnakes and I would hate to mess it up. any help would be great. thanks.

JIM

i have a second clutch of rat snake eggs due in a week or 2 what would be the best incubator as i tried a styrofoam box last year with no look.

Been told to use a 10g tank with crittter cage and either a hovabator, herp nursery or an old fridge what would you recomend for a perfect incubator.

My eggs are from a female rat and a male great plains.

Hey Jim, I've got coxi eggs on the way too and was also wondering about incubating temps. I have most of my eggs incubating at 79-80 degrees but was thinking about not putting my coxi eggs in the big incubator but just high up in a room at 76-77 degrees. I'm still not sure though. I was talking to Rex last week through e-mail but didn't think to ask him what he incubates his at. I might send him an e-mail and ask him. Good luck and thats awesome that you have eggs on the way from all three sub species. Randy W.

Although a little cooler won't hurt at all. Try to stay away from 80, too long at that temp and you can kiss em' good buy.
