Torn Egg

Wallbanger26 Jun 19, 2007 12:45 PM

I came home this morning after work to find my fifth clutch, Pastel or Cinny x Normal. Six eggs. I have always tried to seperate the eggs (I don't really know why) and have had great success. I was very tired and probably shouldn't have screwed with them until I slept. In the process of seperating, I tore a very small hole in one and another one tore thin. I feel like an idiot, so please, no negative responses. Has anyone done this and does anyone know if the egg will live? Also, I heard of putting chapstick on "windows", do you think I should put it on the thin spot?

Thanks

Wayne

Ive heard many use candle wax to seal them. Liquid band aid would work with mold on the egg.

I went to go put a band-aide over the hole, and I couldn't find it. I believe the two eggs fused back together and closed the hole. I really hope I didn't kill that egg. Thanks for the advice so far. I'm guessing you guys have done this too? Did the egg live????

I had the same thing happen with my fist clutch this year. All I ended up doing was putting a small piece of plastic wrap over the hole. The fluid held it in place and once that dried it stayed for the entire incubation period and did hatch out no problem.

I had couple tear on me in the past so I tried a experiment and cut a small peace of wax paper and another out of surandrap and they both worked . The wax paper was in the best shape at hatching . David of DS Reptile Rescue
