Hi there folks. I rescued a blue racer from the neighbor's garden late last week as I was on my way out of town on business. I left her in a cage, planning to release her upon my return. I was gone for only a day, but she must have dropped eggs shortly after being in the cage. It was just newspaper substrate, so they were pretty dry and wrinkled, as well as hard to the touch.
Just to see, I put them on moist vermiculite and covered them over like I would if beardie eggs started to dry a little. They have plumped up and are soft, but a little darker in color than I would expect.
My question... are they past the point of rescue? How much drying out can these little guys take? Would they still absorb water and well if they were dead?
I figure I'll just wait till they go obviously bad, but I wanted some input.
Thanks.
Kris
