Do Balls and Angolans cross in the wild?

EmberBall Jun 19, 2007 05:11 PM

It looks like Angola is pretty far south of the Ball Python territory, but I am not a geographical expert on the Ball or Angolan. Do they cross in the wild, any naturally occuring Ball x Angolan Crosses?

I would say no. However i would say that they are very closely related as far as snakes go. The geographic differences and the evolutionary process has made them go their seperate ways.... but i would bet they were the 'same snake' a looong time ago.

Thats my 2cents.

No. The crosses you see at shows and online are man made.
Ball Pythons are no where near the range of the Angloans.

They cant breed in the wild do to were there home ranges are but if they were close to each other there would not be a difference in them . As they are at the same fork on the evolutional tree .It is there geographical location that has made them different . David of DS Reptile Rescue

Dave, "fork in the evolutionary tree?" Come on dude, the "fork" is in the road, the evolutionary tree has "branches."
Are you drinking again

Dave (Reptiel) sure does have a way with words.

Actually, using the term fork is equally as acceptable. My animal behaviors textbooks uses both terms interchangeably. Branch, fork, they describe the same thing.

( Dave (Reptiel) sure does have a way with words.)
I can only assume you are referring to the spelling of reptile in my post name and as you obviously have not been on this forum very long or you would know from old post that it is part of my E-Mail address and it was the only form of the word that was available so if that is the only thing you have to criticize me about then I will take that as a compliment . Thanks David of DS Reptile Rescue P.S. and Ember Ball : the fork refers to the place on the branch as a tree branch has forks , not just roads have forks .

Even tongues can have forks.

So can threads, obviously...
